Bedroom Designs

6.02.2011

As I mentioned previously, my family recently moved to our family farm in a small town.  Just how small you ask?  Oh, about 3,000 or so people.  Compare this to the 87,000 plus person town I was living in, and this is a major downsize.

The upside to moving is that I have a new room, and with gaining a new room comes decorating.  I absolutely love to decorate.  I've recently become obsessed with following Young House Love and I've always been a fan of HGTV and playing the Sims just to make houses.

Let's take a look at how my decorating has turned out so far:

The view from either end of my room

Happiness is a warm puppy with an empty bladder

Closets

Dressing Area

Word Wall #1

Word Wall #2-Note the ugly box fan, but it's great at night

Desk & 3/4 of a bird dog

Sitting Area/Entertainment System

Bed-I realized I forgot to take a picture of the side wall that contains my initials, oops!

Back room/Window seat

Wall that I don't know what to do with.

That's my room in a nutshell.  I love it so far, but there's still things left to do.

To do list:
  • Fix the overhead light
  • Fix one of the wall outlets
  • Get a window seat cushion
  • Build closet doors
  • Build privacy screen for around stairwell
  • Find something for the long, blank wall
  • Find bookshelves for back room
My main puzzle lately has been what to do with that blank canvas I call a wall.  I'm thinking:
This art set or this art set or maybe you know of some art?  Or have a better suggestion?  Let me know, I'm open to anything!

Hope you enjoyed this peak into my room!

Hey Delaney! My friend, Sam told me about your fun, new blog. WOW- looks like you have an amazing blank canvas in the room. First, it took me a long time to realize- you don't have to have something on every wall. In fact, if you cluster your decor instead of spreading it out a little on each wall, it looks sooo much better and full. Second- I think your room is SCREAMING for a fun paint treatment. Wide, Horizontal stripes on the low walls, or a fun geometric stencil on the end wall. There are tons of great tutorials in blogland. Love your mug and calendar. Gooo Dawgs!

Thanks for the ideas! Right now my decor on the walls is pretty clustered into the areas I use the most, but that darn wall has started to bug me more & more. & I agree with the Go Dawgs sentiment whole-heartedly!

I agree with Meagan. The room needs paint. Why not try ceiling wallpaper? You can also add more wall decor.
