Book Review on a Monday

7.11.2011

A Dog’s Purpose - A Novel for Humans - tells the story of a dog who finds himself reincarnated and decides there must be a reason, a purpose he must fulfill, and until he does so, he’ll continue to be reborn.

My Take: This book brought me to tears and made me smile.  This is by far one of the most heart-warming books I've read in a long time.  This book totally changed my perspective on life and my own dog.  I now wonder what she's really thinking all of the time.  If you're a dog lover, this is a must read.

Room- In many ways, Jack is a typical 5-year-old. He likes to read books, watch TV, and play games with his Ma. But Jack is different in a big way--he has lived his entire life in a single room, sharing the tiny space with only his mother and an unnerving nighttime visitor known as Old Nick. For Jack, Room is the only world he knows, but for Ma, it is a prison in which she has tried to craft a normal life for her son. When their insular world suddenly expands beyond the confines of their four walls, the consequences are piercing and extraordinary.
My Take: I read this book at the recommendation of one of my readers.  This is another book that will make you want to cry, but it is definitely worth it.  While this particular novel is not based on a specific true story, the drama that plays out in the book is something that happens in our world everyday.  In the end though, the book will make you smile and count your blessings. I recommend this book for those who are fans of books such as A Child Called "It".

What have you been reading lately?  Have you read these books?  If so, what are your thoughts?

P.S. Have you entered my giveaway yet?

I wasn't a big fan of Room. I think it left too many holes and unanswered questions to the story :( Definitely left me wanting more information.

I do like A Child Called It though.
